AFRDI – What is it?
Who is AFRDI? Did you know that a standards body exists for furniture?

The Australasian Furnishing Research and Development Institute [AFRDI] is an independent non-for-profit organisation that provides standards, testing and product certification for buyers and sellers of furniture in Australia and New Zealand.
Testing and certification is useful to ensure that products are safe and will survive everyday wear and tear. By choosing to use products that meet the AFRDI standards you are making sustainably viable decision – as it reduces the need to replace furniture in the short term.
TYPES OF FURNITURE TESTED
Height adjustable swivel chairs
Visitors chairs
Desks and workstations
Monitor arms
Filing cabinets
Storage furniture
Table bases
Recliner chairs
There is an International equivalent body that tests and certifies furniture – BSI (British Standards International)
